Warm and compassionate therapy online and in person, specializing in Eating Disorders, Fertility and Perinatal Mental Health, and Trauma.

Managing past trauma, your relationship with food and your body, experiencing perinatal mental health struggles, and the emotional burden of fertility treatment, can be incredibly stressful. Therapy can help.

Therapy can help you reclaim inner joy, build self-confidence, and create stronger relationships. Therapy can help you heal and improve low self-esteem, body image struggles, past trauma, disordered eating behaviors, and anxiety. Therapy can help the transition into motherhood as well as challenge any scary and distressing thoughts associated with becoming a parent. At Simply Known, we provide support for birthing parents, those experiencing emotional distress through the fertility journey, and support for new parents post partum. Together, we can help you find the courage to heal from the past, turn down the negative voice in your mind, choose healthy coping skills to build resiliency, and trust yourself to create the life you love.

Hi, I’m Kate Perkins, LCPC, LPC, a licensed therapist who supports individuals struggling with eating disorders, perinatal mental health, infertility support, and trauma, at all stages, and times of transition, stress and crisis.

Seeking a therapist for yourself can be overwhelming.  Anxiety, painful events from your past, and today’s pressures can hold you back from getting what you want. Vulnerability is the first step to true healing, belonging, and resiliency. You are in the right place, and I am here to walk alongside you, supporting you every step of the way.

My approach and style

To tell your story is true vulnerability, and to listen is an honor; it’s important to choose a therapist who helps you feel safe, seen, understood and known.

Additionally, depending on your treatment needs and focus, I incorporate coping skill development, increased awareness of your somatic(body) experience, thoughts, and feelings. I promote healing through better understanding your reactions to situations and how to regulate your nervous system during times of stress. In therapy, we will Integrate evidenced-based practices such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), somatic interventions to help heal your body’s responses to stress, Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Intuitive Eating, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) interventions. We work together to develop coping strategies and foster emotion regulation. Through a solution-focused therapy lens, I assist you in illuminating strengths and set goals, guiding you toward positive and meaningful change.

My approach to therapy is relaxed, collaborative in nature, validating, solution-focused, and warm. I believe that healing works when we tackle the hard stuff, and I encourage you to bring all your thoughts and feelings to the session. I am here to offer unwavering support, personalized guidance, and evidenced-based approaches to help you overcome challenges, find resilience, and achieve your goals.

  • Trauma and EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a powerful therapy that allows the brain to process traumatic events in a safe space in order to heal our thoughts, feelings, and how our bodies experience the traumatic event. This powerful technique reduces the distress caused by the traumatic event as well as the negative thoughts or shame associated with the event.

  • Eating Disorders

From therapists who understand and who have been there, we specialize in anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and anyone who falls along the spectrum of disordered eating. We provide compassionate care to promote healing and recovery. We understand the spectrum of behaviors associated with disordered eating and the profound shame individuals experience when suffering from these disorders.

  • Infertility Support

At Simply Known, we support those experiencing emotional distress associated with the fertility journey and experiencing the emotional pain of infertility. Research shows that a diagnosis requiring fertility treatment causes as much distress on individuals as someone diagnosed with a terminal illness.
