Eating Disorder Therapy in Overland Park in-person, Available Virtually

Experiencing an eating disorder creates complex emotions: shame, guilt, and fear. Therapy can help. You are enough.

It's common to feel as though you're trapped in a never-ending cycle of thoughts and behaviors that seem impossible to break free from. Many of the individuals I work with have experienced these emotions, and it's important to know that you're not alone in your journey. I understand that the weight of your struggles can be overwhelming, and it may have left you feeling exhausted and uncertain about your future.

Hi, I’m Kate Perkins, LCPC, LPC, a licensed therapist who supports individuals through the healing process of eating disorders.

The cycle of eating disorder thoughts and behaviors can be all encompassing, time consuming, and very distressing. Eating Disorders create disconnection with our loved ones and it is normal to feel alone. You are not alone. I specialize in helping individuals find and maintain recovery from Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, and overall, emotional or disordered eating.

Do you feel out of control about food?

Do you rely on food to meet an emotional need?

Do you feel like the cycle of eating and purging is compulsive?

Are you an avid (or have you tried) past diets?

Have you faced the cycle of restricting (emotionally, psychologically, or physically restricting) and binging?

Do you feel pressure to maintain a certain body size or weight?

Do you exercise despite how your body feels that day?

You may need additional support if you answered any of these questions. We are here to support you in your healing journey!

My Approach

With my clients, I promote self-compassion (which can feel so uncomfortable to start), increased awareness of your body, and encouraging you to trust your body and live safely within your body. We will challenge ED (the eating disorder) and learn to separate from ED to help you live from your value system and not from who ED tells you, you are. I aim to help you live authentically and true to yourself, while learning to engage in self-care and disconnecting from ED.

Taking the step to seek help is a courageous decision, and it's the first step toward reclaiming your life from the grip of your eating disorder.
