Therapy for fertility support available virtually and in person Overland Park

To desire pregnancy and be told that fertility treatment is required, is devastating. Therapy can help. You are not alone.

At Simply Known, we understand the vulnerability and overall rawness that comes with fertility treatments to pursue your dreams of family planning. Research shows that receiving an infertility diagnosis is as emotionally distressing as receiving a chronic medical illness. We see you and you are not alone.

Hi, I’m Kate Perkins, LCPC, a licensed therapist who supports women and partners on their fertility journey.

You may be feeling terrified or unsure that you will be understood in therapy. You are safe here. Fertility treatments are physically and emotionally demanding, we want to support you and let you know that you are not alone. We will support you every step of the way and your feelings are valid.

My Approach to Working with You

Through deep understanding of your experience, and openness to learning your experience, you will feel seen and known. Our hope is for you to no longer feel isolated and alone. All to often, people feel isolated and alone during their fertility journey; all to often people feel like no one understands the emotional distress and physical distress of receiving treatment. We want to open the dialogue and normalize fertility treatments. In a world where this is not discussed, we want to provide space to talk about the hard, raw, difficult aspects of fertility treatment.

How I can help

In therapy, we will create an individualized treatment plan to meet your unique needs on your therapy journey. We may use EMDR to help neutralize the medical trauma that can occur from fertility treatments; we may simply sit with the thoughts and feelings to help you feel seen; and we will work on coping skills to regulate your nervous system, and emotional reactions. While on hormonal support, you may feel out of control, we’re here to help bring a sense of peace, calm, and connection to help you weather those feelings.
