About Kate Perkins, LCPC, LPC

I’m a licensed therapist, coach, and supervisor who believes that powerful and effective therapy helps people feel seen, heard, and known.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, certified Play Therapist, trained in EMDR. I specialize in helping adults find healing, achieve growth, and thrive. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Denver and my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Avila University. I have extensive post-graduate training in outpatient clinics, psychiatric hospitals, and post-graduate training programs.  I have worked in inpatient psychiatric facilities, outpatient clinic settings, as well as developed and maintained an outpatient group therapy program.

Throughout my journey as a therapist, I have sought training in Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Trauma focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT).  These therapies are effective in helping teenagers and adults to manage BIG feelings, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, depression, grief and loss, interpersonal struggles, and life transitions. I offer a safe and warm environment to help clients connect with their value and worth; true healing comes from the courage to be vulnerable and to share your story.

Also, I specialize in helping clients overcome fears, self-doubts, and pressures to accomplish their dreams. I work collaboratively with clients to help identify their closest-held goals, dreams, and needs. In therapy, I will create a tailored and individualized treatment plan to achieve your goals.  Through courage and vulnerability, we will help you achieve those goals.  In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, toddler baby girl, two step-children, family and friends.  I love spending time with my dogs, trying new restaurants, practicing yoga, reading, and traveling.

How I work

In therapy, I am dedicated to providing a safe and compassionate space for clients to feel heard and understood. The first 1-3 sessions include my intake process to get to know you better: your current symptoms, history, relationships, and trauma, etc. Additionally, we will create a tailored treatment plan based on your needs. We will revisit these goals every few months to ensure we are on the correct path. We may use a variety of evidenced-based therapy interventions to best meet your therapeutic needs and goals. My mission is to support you through your challenges, foster growth, and empower you to overcome obstacles in a way that aligns with your true self. Together, we will work towards building a more fulfilling and satisfying life.
